Speaking

I speak to tired rooms.

Conferences, leadership retreats, and professional development days. The audience has been sitting since eight in the morning. They have heard it all before. That is the one I am built for.

Signature talks

What I actually talk about.

Every one of these can run as a keynote or open a longer day. Each is built around the same finding and enters it from a different door.

  • On capacityWhy capable people stop being able to think.

What it costs the organization when they do, and why it is not a motivation problem. This is the evidence heavy one, built on the published research rather than on anecdote.

Best for a leadership audience that wants to be convinced before it is asked to do anything.

  • On the rippleHow a leader's state moves through a team.

What that does to whether problems arrive early or late, and why the effect cannot be delegated downward. The one that changes how a management group runs its next meeting.

Best for a management audience with direct reports.

  • On saying the true thingThe conversation that stays cheap.

Relational intelligence, and the frames that let a difficult conversation happen while it is still small. The most practical of the three, and the one people use first.

Best when the audience will be together again on Monday.

Workshops

Longer than a keynote.

A keynote changes what an audience thinks. A workshop changes what it can do. Half day and full day formats, built around your people practicing rather than listening.

  • People work on their own live situations. Not case studies, and not somebody else's company.
  • Nobody is put on the spot in front of colleagues. The work does not require it and I do not ask.
  • The group leaves having already done it once. Which is the only reliable predictor of doing it again.

Get in touch

Tell me about the event.

Enough detail that I can tell you quickly whether I am right for it. I would rather turn down a booking early than take one that does not suit the audience.

Or the window you are working in.
Roles and seniority. This is what decides which talk fits.

I read these myself, and I will tell you straight away if the date is gone.

That is with me now.

If you are still deciding, the research is the fastest way to see whether the substance fits your audience.

Not an event

If it is not an event.

Some of these conversations start as a keynote and turn out to be something else. If what you are describing is really an ongoing problem rather than a date in the calendar, say so and we will talk about that instead.

Answered before you ask

  • Your people practice, and nobody is put on the spot
  • A keynote can open a day I also run
  • If the fit is wrong I will say so first
